What wonders did he claim to have achieved exactly?

You'll notice that Maclean wants Ozouf's job, Ozouf wants Le Sueur's Job, Le Sueur wants Walker's job, and Walker has stepped down.

There is one way to break the chain, should anyone wish to accept the challenge at the ballot box.

He's a non entity and yet if you believe what you read in the paper this man will get a Senatorial seat and one day might become CM. I find it baffling.

Maybe the centre / left / green candidates are going to get slaughtered at the elections. Maybe this virtual debate that we've become involved in bear’s absolutely no resemblance to the issues that are important to your average man and woman in the street. Are we cyber freaks?

Tell me I'm wrong somebody. Tell me it’s going to be OK  :(

On the subject of 'change',  If Time4Change get in, won't they have to change their name?

Just a thought...

razzard

The people that write on PJ are just that, residents that make up part of the community, so it follows that topics on here are mostly very relevant.  There are some good politicians who are regularly out voted by those that seem to working to a different moral and business agenda, perpetuating a two tier society.

Will it be ok ( depends how you define ok)

In America completely disgusted with the Governments handling of care for the pensioners, retired Corporate managers in Sun City organised a club for pensioners which grew at meteoric speed. Now  politicians in America are truly fearful of the silver hair vote which can make or break them.

Daphne Minihane head of Senior Citizens’ Association seems to be calling her troops to arms. This rally from the retired who are known to vote, could cause havoc in the elections as it is getting harder for those on a pension getting considerable less for their money.

They also may be incensed that rather than looking after Jersey’s house keeping budget ( spend spend spend) GST was brought in.

Funny you should mention that, Res, I was thinking exactly the same this morning !  :D

Having said that , I think there is enough work to be done for quite a few years to come so we'll be ok for quite a while still. Time4Change does not refer to just "us getting in" ; once in, that's it ! Done deal ! Nope ! Moreover, I truly believe there will ALWAYS be reason for change - not necessarily always a drastic change - but if you come to a stand still, if you get to a point where you think "OK, we've done it, now we don't have to change anything any more", I think you become "stale" and the need for change starts all over again ! Life is about constant changes, isn't it ?

Back to Alan Maclean, though ! I have been to quite a few hustings now and if i didn't know any better, I would vote for Alan Maclean. I think he speaks very well, confidently, and he says the right things. I do not believe him one bit, though !

I get particularly angry about the fact that he keeps stressing that they should stop building on green zones ! It is one of his core issues ! Do you know how he voted, though ?

Alan Maclean voted POUR the rezoning of ALL green fields (to build houses for the over-55s) as suggested in the amended Island Plan and that was only about two months ago. So did Ozouf, Vibert, and Routier, for that matter. Troy declared an interest (given the fact that he is into property development, what do you think his stance would be ? Answers on a postcard!). Ferguson voted CONTRE one of the fields in Trinity, I think, but also POUR all the others.

Now, you expect promises, promises in political campaigns; I am well aware of candidates twigging the truth a little bit. But the blatant lies just really infuriate me !

I have also been to a couple of hustings myself and completely agree that Maclean comes across very well however, there is something about him and Ozouf that is too comfortable.  The only reason Maclean is running after only 3 years as deputy is because Ozouf is going for treasury minister when T Le Sueur become CM and Maclean will takeover Eco Dev Minister.  Its sickening they already have it mapped out.

Maclean lies so much that it is starting to become funny now.  If you have noticed at these meetings how whenever someone else stands to answer questions or introduce themselves he seems to be frantically writing away!

Liar, Establishment Pro, Manipulator, Ozouf's tea boy, False!  Just a few of my favourite alternatives to his name Maclean.....

I see Philip Ozouf is saying:

Quote
GREEN FIELDS – I do not wish to see any further development in green field sites for the foreseeable future. Studies are now showing that there are plenty of opportunities to increase housing supply through regenerating St. Helier.

For the foreseeable future?  How long is that? 1 day? a week? Until just after the election?
