I can't help thinking that the real problems will start when the bridge -to - be arrives in French territory.
Will the French pay for that bit - I think not, no doubt it will have to be built at the Jersey end to Jersey building standards (loosely adopted from ODPM) and at the French end to Socotec supervision over French "Normes". Since there are yet no harmonisations between French (NF), Euro, German(DIN), UK or "Jersey" standards, how will it be possible to acheive agreement?
Of course Our Environment & Planning Minister could take the route that now is the time for "harmonisation" (the oft gifted excuse for not being able to comply with european standards) - even though the standards are recognised by mandate by the UK and UK standards are recognised by Jersey, and the TGD from Building control allows for "unless any other european building standard can be met".
This will open a floodgate of complaints from professionals and the like who have been clamouring for the recognition of these standards for years. ---What Bridge???....

Probably very valid, but I think theres about a hundred reasons the whole bonkers plan falls down on before you even get close to worrying about this stuff.

Spot on Stoofa it aint gonna happen, but,,,,, we could pretend that we are considering and still dump all of our refuse into a new landfill in the area. Maybe that would reach France in 50/60 years !

Maybe so guys but considering the madness of King Freddie, we couln't possibly say it will never be for if the inconceivable should happen, there then becomes the problem of the central section of said bridge to be as it will in fact no mans land. So what have we here? A possibility that a community of no persons clings to this section selling dope ( this is what happens in holland on a central part of one of their no-man's land bridges, A new community arises tying up a flotilla of clapped out vessels and all living abord as in HongKong Harbour??
No one to Police them and both ways to run when the chips are down.

Given the millenium park (a slightly cheaper and less mind boggling endevour) is but a dream 9 years on and counting, i'm not overly concerned about it actually getting built, just useful cash getting pissed away on (un)feasibility studies.
