Guys

Give him a break. He's 21 years old - and has simply been stitched up by Rankine Television.

What a pity Rankine TV isn't quite so ready to get down and dirty whenever they're given anti-oligarchy material.

He's a bright, young kid - who has more to offer the community than three quarters of ya traditional States members.

I agree with Stuart lets wait and see what he does when he gets inside the chamber. We have been calling for youth to get involved, now give him a chance. He could take some advice from experienced people like Stuart, rather than well meaning family though.

It was obvious during the election campaigns that his mother was in the background advising him, and as a young deputy he does need support; but the e-mails draw him unnecessary attention and do his reputation no good. The focus shouldn’t be on in-fighting but on attempting to offer a credible alternative of sort.

How did CTV get hold of the e-mails, anyway? They appeared to enjoy their attempt at some critical journalism. It’s a pity it couldn’t be extended to more important issues.

Bottom line is:

If Jeremy wanted to appear credible, HE would have told his mummy to keep out of it.

I think self Immolation would be more appropriate than having mater turn up all the time. Jeremy should recognise this. His win has kept a good person out of the states.

John.

Thats all , "well and good", you spouting your opinions from experience Stu.
But new members of, "The Club", should at least have the manners to attend meetings.

What's manners got to do with politics?

Yes, Did'nt take long to use the bully boy tactics on Jeremy Macon.Hence G. Southern appearance on T.V Why did.nt Southern have the guts to come onto this Forum instead, Afraid he may have to take on the same he dished out to J.Marcon .Oh" yes and his opinions on R.Le Herrisier And S. Crocroft. Could'nt wait for the publcity on these two States members. Fine example in all working togather if changes are needed. Leopards don't change their Spots certainly applies to Geoff. As for J. Macon hopefully like his  Mother will follow this Forum.NOW MOTHER? Hard facts coming up. Be there for your son when the going gets tough. Make no mistake those times will come .As seen in J.E.P tonight's front page, did.nt take long for knives to come out as his  drawing taxpayers wages. He is confident, and bright Nellie, But for how long?, Having chosen politics with your help.( Seriously Now Step Back.) Let him learn the ropes like other new candidates, Gaining respect in becoming his own man. Was.nt he an Indepentant candidate?.Let him be. Your doing him more harm, Manipulating him into your ideas, Now being a politician, Left alone he'll learn and know the score. In time perhaps be able to help his own generation. But not if known as  Mummy's boy,His likely to be jeered, treated with contempt,In Humiliating him your risking breaking his confidence If not letting him to learn his Job on his own, Or indeed if cut out for it. Give him rope.It won't be easy as it is.  Gve him his CHANCE, MOTHER.

John.

What good person has he kept out of the States and how do you know he won't turn out to be a good States Member.

He faced an election and was democratically elected.

He becomes a States Member next week, so isn't only fair to wait and see what he can offer his parish and the Island.

JdelH must mean Nightingale or Scott-Warren. Macon did just pip the former by 24 votes...

Rob Duhamel 569
Jeremy Maçon 448
Tony Nightingale 424
Celia Scott Warren 388

At least Nightingale (perish the thought!) wouldn't have had Mater doing his secretarial stuff, He is able to answer his own questions from his own platform. This is a neutral position as opposed to the negative one that Mrs Macon has placed her son in. Perhaps this is what is meant by "Women and children first?".

Re signing CM nomination forms.

As explained in the States procedures, newly elected members can sign nomination forms etc.

It is they, after all, who will be in the house and will be electing the CM.

For similar reasons, outgoing members cannot sign such forms.
