Postal Vote Fraud
« on: December 03, 2008, 03:01:05 PM »
Moreover, if I were as busy with important stuff as Geoff, I wouldn't bother, either.

That wouldn't be something important like vote fraud to ensure the JDA get more members into the house.

I notice it was widely used in the UK and there they called for a re-election. removal of office has also happened recently in Thialand with the offending parties dissolved. What will happen in Jersey? Do we have poeple in charge who will stand against fraud? Will they be able to stop "Granny Farming" and pushing votes pre nomination?

Hopefully one of them will get ousted so that this deluded idea of a "revolution" fades away...

I am of the belief that Jersey has some good politicians, and at the last elections offered some excellent candidates. Should however any person lie and cheat to become elected, they should, as brought to our attention by Sam Clemens in his post be removed from office.

It matters not that if postal votes had not been manipulated they may still have had enough votes, to have been elected. In my opinion what really matters is the integrity and honesty of the candidate, and that candidate putting the publics ( the majority ) interest first and formost.

Imagine sending one of these dis-honest politicians to negotiate millions of pounds worth of any development. Knowing how they acted at election time, ( and were allowed to get away with fraud). Certainly in their interest, but not in the public interest. I suggest fellow politicians would have little confidence in such a character, and it would not be in the interests of the assembly.

I hope that’s the line the police are taking, should their enquiries search out any guilty party or person.

Boatyboy.

Sorry Tetras,

I do not really understand the question, but if they are acting, just to get elected, then that is not illegal. If they are telling untruths, well all politicians tell the truth " don't they " !!

Better looking than last year's anyway! But then, I am his mother so I'm allowed to be biased.

What I'd like to know is why you all hate the JDA so much? I don't always agree with everything they do or say but they have certainly done some really good things for the Island eg keeping school milk despite 3 attempts at getting rid of it. It's also good to have people standing up against the old boys club who get their own way too much as it is but without some people in there who aren't afraid to stand up to them we'd really be scuppered.

I have lots against the JDA. Mainly because they are fronted by a Communist former teacher who isnt allowed to teach again!!! How can a man like this be allowed to run our Island. He acts intelligent but quite frankly is talking out of his a*se. As for the Pitmans, neither are qualified to be in there and De Souza is a puppet. Basicically the idea of the party works in theory, but in practise it will never succeeded when fronted by buffoons. As much as I dislike the man, without Ted Vibert they have no direction and no ambition.

Check out the anti JDA group on Facebook!! [NO JDA JERSEY]

I'm not a JDA supporter and have never voted for any of them, but please enlighten me Who is qualified to be in the States and what are the qualifications you need.

Ah, the Pitstop's...a fine use of in excess of £90k + per annum (did Shona ever pay her Dad back after last time do you think?) and they don't even live in the People's Republic of St. Helier No.2.  No doubt their Bonne Nuit retreat helps them wind down after a hard day at the coal face of the Assembly, giving Trev an opportunity to hone his finely crafted questions to Jimmy Reed.  Still, having witnessed them in action in the Assembly (I know, sad isn't it, but it was cheaper than Bean Around the World) I suppose Trev can at least string more than a couple of words together unlike the spouse.

Cyrille - why can't he teach again?  Stress related early retirement?  Failed his Ofsted inspection?  I am genuinely curious about this one but obviously only if you can substantiate it!

You don't need any qualifications to be in the States some big names of the past had little academic achievement to boast about.

Life experience and common sense is probably the best qualification and thats something a few of the new people have not demonstrated to me so far.

Southern a communist?  Maybe.

Anyway Nellie, what's intrinsically wrong with the so called Old Boys Club?  They've done alright by me and my pals, our economy is in a far better shape than most others, we have cash in the bank and no debt, still pretty much full employment (even if those annoying immigrants who do our dirty work for us decide to go home because of the rubbish £, we could put our jobless to work in the fields and hotel bathrooms), what's not to like?  And who is in this club?  People who got elected, just like Jeremy.

Sorry, your comment just strikes me as facile - the OBC get their way because they carry a majority in the States and that's called, er, democracy - annoying ain't it?  Maybe Jezza could fill you in on the detail from his Civics notes?
