I would have hoped the minister for education would know the correct structure of a sentence - however is there alot of suspects up at education as I believe he said something along the lines that he would have to suspend all staff
I think his flawed argument went somewhere along the lines of:
- there are suspects
- he believes in "innocent until proven guilty"
- the suspects haven't been proven guilty and therefore are innocent so they're no different from the non-suspects
- therefore if he suspends those suspected, he would have no reason not to suspend those who are not suspects.
I don't think he quite understands the concept of suspect; that the police must have some reason for considering these people suspect and that when the safety of children is concerned, surely this is enough of a reason to remove them temporarily from the education department.
I agree, he was caught off guard in this interview and perhaps, having had time to prepare answers to these questions (or ask someone else who could) beforehand, might have been able to come up with some sensible answers. I guess only time will tell.
