I agree, he was caught off guard in this interview and perhaps, having had time to prepare answers to these questions (or ask someone else who could) beforehand, might have been able to come up with some sensible answers. I guess only time will tell.

Caught off guard ? I don't accept that, to be honest. Anyone taking on the role of Minister of Education should have expected that question, it was not the first time it was asked. As a matter of fact, it was Roy Le Herissier himself who asked a very similar question in the States and I bet my salary that this is the very reason why the States members were told to vote for Jim Reed.

During the senatorial elections a few candidates evaded questions about Haut de la Garenne in a similar way, saying : "I don't know much about it!" what planet have they been on the past 13-14 months then ? I accept they may not know the full details, but surely they could have known questions like that would pop up and at least have done some research.
