Ann Court

Put this here as Judy Martin's name has been mentioned in association with this in the press.

Very brief idea here :-http://www.jerseyinsight.com/news_1.aspx?id=0:11710&news=2:1489

Wasn't Ann Court already being used for sheltered accomodation for old folks?  Why has it now become derelict - is it so that they can (eventually) transform the area into a car park?

At the moment the whole area looks like Chernobyl.  It's a total disgrace to the parish and must be extremely embarrassing to the residents who used to live there (or at least you'd expect it to be).  No one has cleared up the area, there's still rubbish and ruined peices of people unwated property lying about the place.

The buildings are an eyesore, in my opinion. If the area is to be used again for housing then they need to be taken down and replaced with something functional and in keeping with the rest of St Helier.  The whole area does and always has looked like something out of 1970's (concrete) England.

A the same time though, St helier does need more open park space.  Does Judy Martin have any suggestions for other places where a new park could go?

Arrr, I had wondered why they'd need to knock down one carpark to build another elsewhere.  Cheers for that Tetras.

There must be something in that as why else would they propose such a back-to-front project.  *I realise that they don't usually require a reason*.

According a good friend of mine who works for the states and has access to Minden - they store a massive stockpile of emergency food and resources under Minden, for the whole island, incase of a disaster.   I know this sounds pie in the sky, but apparently it's true.  This would make the demolition of Minden far more complicated than it would appear on the surface.  This also may have added to the acceleration of the concrete cancer, had it been frozen and unfrozen etc.
