Climate change
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:56:28 AM »
Today Senator Cohen launched a paper on climate change called "Turning Point" compiled by a number of heads of States departments and the usual collection of off island experts, with a distinct lack of information and views from local environmentalists and bodies. It does flag a perceived benefit for tourism and farming without evidence.

My issue is that the Senator states that this is evidence:- well if this is so and it raises the point of rising sea levels why has he allowed the building of a major public building (Incinerator) that looks like it may well get swamped in a storm surge. Castle Quay with a floor below sea level. Last but not least he pushes ahead with his proposal for an underpass.

I really can not see how we are going to avoid major flooding on the south coast in the next generation, so why are we allowing these major plans there.

And staff in their nineties will be looking after them. Due to Wobal Glarming most of Jersey will be desert by then and the only Jersey Royals will be in the museum
Luckily foreign visitors will be able to come to the island via the bridge from Normandy
Emile Collins, at the age of 183 will still be ringing BBC Talk back and arguing his case
Don't think Bridget will be around - will have bored herself to death
Will PJ still be here ?

What gets me if you fill a glass right to the top and pressed down with ice when it melts the glass would be about half full. So when the ice that is occupying the ice caps and taking up all that space, when the ice melts there will be more room, so how come we will br flooded?

Very good!

Emile will still be saying "the finance industry is going".

Bridget is one of the most open minded and intelligent callers of the phone-in.  Pulls no punches and the left hate her for it.  But then again they always say the truth hurts.

The ice that scientific folk are worried about melting is not contained in a big glass of water. It is sitting atop of a massive solid bit of land. The water will have to go somewhere.
Most likely it will cause tides to rise dramatically. (Eventually).

Persuading Stuart Syvret to resign would take a load of energy - your call.
