Who or what is the hated Oligarchy?
who hates them , who is covered within the umbrella of hate, are some hated more or less than others?
I don,t hate anyone I have not had an opportunity to know or form an opinion on. I think there are lots of people I take an instant dislike to because of their rather eccentric views or obvious stupidity but in general, nope don,t actually hate anyone.

so should be take it that he is seeking to undermine the hated oligarchy from within?

Well he would like to part of it from a view of wishing to be immune from prosecution.

He also seems have inserted his genome into the oligarchy on more than one occasion

Did it have to turn out the way it did though? So messy, so poorly managed.

Would this not have been the usual course of events?

Warcup (on the phone to SS) - "Stuart, you've confessed to breaking data protection law. Setting aside the bigger picture for a moment, its my job as a copper to enforce it. Would you mind coming down to the station to answer a few questions?"

Syvret - "No problem, its a Tuesday so I'm not up to much, I'll pop down after lunch".

Warcup - "Thanks, but don't come before 2.30pm as I've got lunch with the AG at the Capaninna".

Later that day in a police interview room.

Warcup - "Stuart do you admit to breaking the data protection law".

Syvret - "Errr.. yes... you know I do. I've already said so on my blog".

Warcup - "You are not obliged to say anything ...blah blah blah...... You will be held in custody pending further inquiries and a warrant will issued for the search of you / your partners property for evidence".

Later in the afternoon, two or three plain clothes policeman arrive in an unmarked car and conduct a discreet search and find the evidence (his computer and a copy of the leaked report) that they need to secure a conviction.

Syvret is then released, a court date is set. He pleads gulity. Gets £1,000 fine and slap on the wrist. His computer is returned to him. End of story.

I am sure that someone will correct if I am wrong, but is it possible that:

He bragged he had material which had been "misappropriated"
He further bragged that it was "in a safe place"
Had he been arrested on presenting himself at a police station then the police would have had the power to search his home address
By waiting until he came out of another premises and then arresting him they would be able to search those premises (which might have been the 'secure location' of the evidence, despite those premises not being his home address, AND then search his home address as it is controlled by him.

Then a warrant would not be required?

Just a thought.

It is easy to see who where's the trousers in Grouville by looking at the voting record.

I find it rather hypocritical of SSS to launch and encourage numerous personal attacks on people often who are not in a position to respond, then cry foul when he is taken to justice with what from the outside would appear numerous breaches.

By her actions Deputy Labey would appear the  condone what SSS has been doing which is rather bizarre considering all her personal and family conections with the "oligarchy" and their associates.

More fool the muppets that follow these people.

Well put Iruka, this is indeed the nub of it and where Philip Sinel will clash horns with the Crown Officers in a case that should, by rights, be promoted by none other then the great man himself  http://static.bethsoft.com/blog/Don%20King.jpg

Well if he hadn't intimidated the police on his blog with quotes like "you won't get me copper" and then illegally obtained police memos and published them then just perhaps her house would not have been turned over?  I reckon DD has a point about the wealth of the family, SSS is not being straight with his followers about what wealth is at his disposal.

The last point cannot be justified. Many years ago when I was poor, but very good looking, I was the squeeze of an inordinately wealthy woman who wanted to marry me. Not slow to see that my destiny was mapped out before me I did the necessary. However despite my hopes that it would lead to a somewhat easier life this never materialised. Whilst I never asked for a penny neither was one forthcoming. Being married to or living with a rich person does not, by default, provide wealth at ones disposal.

Needless to say I divorced her within the year  ;D

Carolyn Labey, member of an extended family who own large tracts of Grouville (and who have done so for as long as one can remember). After working in Trust develops an interest in 'local' politics and stands for Deputy, uncontested, twice. Hardly surprising perhaps given the circumstances. Within the early days of ministerial government and post Clothier takes up a position on the fringes of cabinet as an unofficial assistant minister for ESC. Allocated the C bit. Clings  (politically speaking) to Mike Vibert, Tom McKeon and David Greenwood. At this stage would be described, by some, as a classic 'olly dolly'. Privately educated, conservative, landed gentry type, Laura Ashley dresses, flowing blonde hair, with a tendency for NIMBY'ISMS but is praised in certain quarters for being approachable and willing to listen. Then has a rough ride with the cultural strategy, narrowly getting it through the States by the odd vote. Relying heavily on the 'establishment machine' to do so when a certain claque were doing the 'I'll scratch your back' routine. Promises much on that front but fails to deliver anything at all for artists, writers, film makers or anybody with the slightest creative urge.  Sounds out of her depth when talking about the subject - even on radio. But does succeed in creating a new level of administration within the department at the taxpayers’ expense. Rod McLoughlin, generally accepted as a good man, becomes her glorified secretary. Cuts funding to grant giving organistaions in order to fund this. So no additional funding for culture is forthcoming under her tenure, no new projects, and certainly no intelligent debate. Culture slips further down the pecking order as the global economy turns. Otherwise acts undetected, politically speaking, until a clarion call for GST exemptions. Failed in that also. Abstains on the incinerator vote. Next seen in the JEP comparing the police raid on the home she shares with her partner to that of the Nazi blitzkrieg on London during the early part of WW2. Commentators across the online spectrum claim she lacks perspective. Difficult to see, given all of the above, that it might be possible to re-package herself as the new darling of the left.

People of Grouville. Next time you are nearing an election take time to gather your thoughts. Look around you and should you see somebody who is down to earth, hardworking, affable and professionally capable - please ask them to stand for Deputy.

Raz my old chap how does one square the former Bailiffs right hand man befriending the girlfriend of the Senator who does little but criticise the post of Bailiff?

And how does the Labey family bed both sides of the recent debacle in the house, x3 me thinks?

We could make a good panto out of this at the next JDA AGM but a good script writer would be needed!

Its not a square - its a big circle - I'm your'e man for the panto Mick.

Here's a little soupcon. You got your knife ready?

Target Publications (run a company search) - Deputy Mike Vibert - A certain chairman of the Jersey Arts Centre - Rod McLoughlin - Stuart Syvret - Peter Crill - Philip Bailhache - Jo Burns - Derek Maltwood - Senator Mike Vibert - Tom McKeon -Carolyn Labey - Chris Lakeman ......and so it goes on and on and on............in all its dizzying madness.

Somebody I know has already written, but not published, a book about it so all I have to do, with their permission, is adapt it for the stage. Man the days of state funded theatre would be over when the curtain goes up on that one. It would be a sell out for the next ten years!

It really does have it all. Power, duplicity, control, influence, sex and lies. Jeffrey Archer's got nothing on this baby.

We could have a grand finale in peoples park and call it a non political piece and watch all the out of favour and budding politicians make a speech to increase their kudos with the plebs. I even have the inkling of a song "Don't cry for me Labey"
