Crazy Cohen - he's out of control!
« on: December 15, 2009, 04:35:13 PM »
I've often thought that the Planning Minister, if dipped from head to toe in a verdant green matt emulsion, would bare more then a passing resemblance to that iconic 70's comic book hero - The Incredible Hulk. I think its the temprament mostly. Although the short man syndrome may also yield some retro TV chic.

And so it is that the very same senator may well be turning green again tonight as yet another of his high handed and arbitrary planning decisions is kicked into touch by none other then the law itself.  Although in the Steenson case it does smell a little bit like the legal proffession is looking after 'one of its own'.

And so to the good readers of planet jersey I offer a free set a Gallagher golf clubs, the type architects have to buy as bribes for consent, to the person who can rightly predict the next time The Hulk see's green and looses control.

Pimp the States Chamber.

I will enrage Cohen immediately then by submitting a proposition to the states which makes it illegal to clad boxes in fake granite. Then, when he is all green and hunky, I'll send him Virgin business class to Florida to obtain the said item. Who could stop him in that condition I ask?

Upon his successful return (to Jersey and the relative un-normality, nay surrealism, of the States Chamber) and with the little black book now firmly in my possesion, I will start a new thread in the hope that some of you guys might get lucky - just once!

who needs neighbours like that, who would deny a disabled person a good standard of living. hopefully, (the objecters) are all and will remain abled bodied, but who knows what is around the corner in life.
i hope the family with the disabled person can find some common ground .

Cohen is so far up his own erse he,s got double vision.
Developers have been playing with his ego for years, (Smart developers, not honest ones).
Its about time he was slapped into touch.

I wonder if he will carry out his threat/(promise?), to quit if he doesn,t get his own way this time?

don,t be silly Fritz ! of course he will not resign.......... almost as important to makeing money is the massaging of the egos of these demented (I,m only here to help the people) pricks !
Feck sake Freddy , show some dignity and resign !
this is becoming beyond tiresome , if you could have a chat to TLS and persuade him also that he is entirely beyond the pale and becomes more buffoon like every time he speaks . I know it is the pantomime season , but Terry , seriously , your political career,,,ITS BEHIND YOU!.
Cohen , your non existent political career is nowhere , what have you achieved apart from your contributions to overseas building companies?
Self Service springs to mind accross the political spectrum.We seriously should just turn up at the royal square one day and throw the feckers out!
Useless bunch of Walkers.

Err yes sparty. Noted. Suggest a PM to admin. Just dont call him a Walker or you might not get your way.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So what's left for Senator Cohen now that his waterfront masterplan is deemed unbuildable. Caught high and dry on the tide of economic change. He has said he will not stand again and with the sinking of the underpass and the building of the architecturally inept fiancial concrete maze about as likely as a millenium town park in the near future he has seemingly done what all frustrated politicians do when their visions are in tatters - devoid of purpose they faff about busying themselves with minor details that are best left at officer level.

I stood behind Cohen in the queue to get a JEP from the old lady outside BHS on the day his north of town masterplan was unveiled. He was a bursting his buttons telling the poor disinterested woman about how it was 'his' materplan. Over and over and over. And as the queue lengthened and people started looking at their watches and coughing loudly he seemed totally unaware of quite what a prat he was making of himself.

Senator Cohen in my view your tenure as planning minister has been nothing short of a gigantic pampering of your ego. It would seem that despite much hot air very little of any note has been acheived and this latest episode shows that when it comes down to it you just cant help yourself. You played to the gallery during your election campaign providing an unsophisticated public with a range of cultural projects that you claimed as your own. Of course the many people who actually did the work knew differently but the wider electorate fell for it - seeing you as an all round good egg. They were, in my opinion, very wrong. Hoardings on buildings are not in themselves interesting, engraved stone pavings are not sculpture and an ugly toad on a granite stick is definately not good public art. Live8 -well that was just a giant piss up ending in drunken brawl and 'boots on boys' for the old bill.

Your obsession with master-planning, the total and utter devotion to all things Hopkins, the Harcourt fiasco, the unfinshed Island site, the posturing on a national gallery and then a national park, the blantant ignoring of advice from the Islands most respected chartered surveyors, the portlet carbuncle,  the ongoing plemont inertia, and now this petty meddling tell me that you are way out of your depth and your remaining time is probably best served undoing the expensive and messy legacy you have created so that somebody truly creative and passionate about architecture and design can work with local suppliers to provide solutions that are economically realistic, aesthetically in keeping and most importantly sustainable.

People did not make a line in the sand for you but their message was very clear. So give it up man. You'll feel all the better for it.

Some quotes to help you on your way;

Big egos are big sheilds for lots of empty space - Diana Black; 20th Century american writer.

The smaller the mind the greater the conceit - Aesop (greek fabulist) 6th Century BC

The greatest of faults, I should say, is to be concious of none - Thomas Carlyle, 1879, Scottish Historian

and finally my favourite;

Egotism is the anathestic that dulls the pain of stupidity - Frank Leahy, 20th Century american football coach.

Maybe you could mention the last one to Senator Ozouf or just text him it on your blackberry during a states sitting?

He will always be remembered for his great victory over the , "Developer", who wanted to build a house in a field in order to tend her flock of sheep. (Round about the same time that he authorised Dandara to excavate an extra level for parking on the Les Pas site without realising,(?), that the cost of the extra excavation would be paid by the tax-payer).

Well done Freddy. If it weren,t for you, the countryside could have been over-run by about a dozen sheep.

Freddie Cohen has said that his decision to allow Regal to build an extra storey on their car park development in Kensington place was purely to enhance the facade.

Evidence that his decision was based on nepotism to enhance the developers profit was dismissed as circumcisial.
