Should Terry Boy be stripped of his minister title after this latest fiddle in trying to help out a friend knowing him to be breaking the housings laws? It should be interesting to see who may put it to the house that they have lost all confidence in him as not only a minister but as a member of the States. Let us see just how strong the members are in all of this. Chop off his head!

Apparently EL TEL is denying having a "long term friendship" with the developer, but doesn't deny writing the letters, thats ok then is it. He has stepped aside while an investigation takes place (bet that one won't take two years).

So let sum it up, he wrote numerous letters to the Attorney General saying that it was unfair and not in the public interest to prosecute someone he doesn't know for breaking the housing law he is tasked with applying to everyone else. He then wrote a letter of mitigation to the Royal Court (again for this person he doesn't know) stating that the housing law was flawed!!!

Maybe he should try fixing the housing law instead of spending all his time writing letters for people he doesn't know.

Looks like we have another by-election coming up because not only is he finished as a minister but will be finished as a states member. I believe this is only the tip of a very large iceberg.

The wheels are falling off

Did the developer had his claws into Terry so deep that he forced him to write the letters ?  Nothing does surprise me any more

This depends on how many other members have been "at it". I believe corruption is rife and entranced. It only seems to be unacceptable when it's published in local media. The States have a huge carpet under which they can sweep all sorts. High time we lift it up and expose what's underneath.
We can't count on the local sleepy media to do it. And Terry Le S six highly paid spindoctors will do everything to stop it

Any chance of any proof on the latest crime? From what I have read he has written to the AG suggesting the law is crap and it would not be in the public interest to pursue the matter .OK , if the matter comes to court we shall see what the matter may be , if it concerns infractions that you or I would be heavily fined for ,,,,, /I recall a fairly recent case ,,,, arrowroot?  heavily fined for allowing someone non qualified to live in his/her accommodation. Any chance that we wait and see before we hang Tel?

Well as it is his own Departments law that is poo, maybe he would have been better placed working on said poopoo law instead of trying to pull strings to get his pal off.

Anyway, it obviously WAS serious enough as Venton was found guilty and fined - simple as. :-[ :-[

What is the difference with this case and Deputy Hill being involved in the Glazebrook case?

The authorities decided not to prosecute for some inexplicable reason, even though Benny accused 2 civil servants of perjuring themselves, a claim comprehensively demolished by the Appeal Court Judge.  Almost certainly nothing to do with his membership of the Housing Committee at the time, although he had to resign over it when the Committee President (Corrie Stein) said it's either him or me!  Evidently Benny wasn't too bothered about the human rights of the civil servnats, although his Yooman rights interest seems to stem from this unhappy episode.  If you've never read the judgement it's a real eye-opener, right up there for sheer entertainment value.  What short memories the voters of St. Martin must have!

Funnily enough, that case appears to be one which El Tel got right and the Court was pretty complimentary to Housing, unlike this one.  Still, seems to give the lie (at least in this case) to those who argue that the prosecutors can be leant on by polticians to "cover-up" inconvenient truths.

El-Tel is , "Baw Deep", with property developers.

They might not be his , "Friends", as he says, but I,ve never heard of him refusing a , "Gift", from any of them.

Housing Minister Terry Le Main has resigned.

Senator Terry Le Main was facing a vote of no confidence, after he was alleged to have interfered with court proceedings involving a friend. The motion was being brought by Deputy Geoff Southern.

Channel Television learnt that businessman Frank Venton, has been the housing Minister's political sponsor for more than 30 years, despite the Senator denying a long term friendship. Mr Venton, the Creative Director of Vision Advertising has been printing the Senator's election campaign material since 1978. Mr Venton was fined last week for breaching the island's housing laws.

At the weekend Senator Le Main agreed to temporarily step down as Housing Minister whilst the allegations were being investigated.Senator Le Main is understood to have sent a letter to all his fellow Ministers and Assistant Ministers announcing his resignation.

Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur says he's received a draft resignation letter and is awaiting an official signed copy.

Naw, let's hang him anyway! Even if he is innocent in this instance (highly unlikely) he must be guilty of countless other similar offences. Let's hope he is the first in a long line of self serving, corrupt Jersey politicians to be outed in public.
