Yep...he had a Cub Scout Pack named after him...he was Chaplain to the Sea Cadets...an Old Victorian who kept in contact with his old school... It's quite worrying how the same people and organisations keep turning up...

Many thanks.
Even more relevant having just read the recent comment from a chaps wife on SS blog and the Sea Scouts/Cadets.

I just remembered (It's age and what it does to your memory) that many years ago I was reliably told that Andrew Lewis, before he went into politics (obviously), used to be Humphrey, the mascot of Fort Regent... Can anyone confirm this? Anyone got any pictures?

(For anyone who doesn't know or remember Humphrey there is a picture here http://www.thisisjerseyphotos.com/cgi-bin/store/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Temps_Passe&image=00459321.jpg&img=0&search=humphrey&cat=all&tt=&bool=or&tfile=tn_00459321.jpg&numtolist=45&sortfiles=1 and this is the sort of thing you won't see every day! Obviously this kinda slur or accusation is much more innocent than many of those going around at the moment - for people who prefer those there is this picture http://www.thisisjerseyphotos.com/cgi-bin/store/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Temps_Passe&image=00181435.jpg&img=0&search=saville&cat=all&tt=&bool=or&tfile=tn_00181435.jpg&numtolist=45&sortfiles=1 .)

"1.1.13 - Deputy A.D. Lewis of St. John:
...I do firmly believe, however, that the Jersey electorate should not be underestimated and it would frankly be insulting to their intelligence to suggest that they can simply be won over by a clever high profile advertising campaign.  The public are cleverer than that, they can see through it..."

Andrew Lewis set up and ran the Image Group, a public relations and marketing company. If he really believes that people cannot be won over by a clever, high profile advertising campaign then why was he in this line of work???

(Also, as he owns a marketing company, does this not give him an unfair advantage over other candidates in November whose electoral expenditure will be capped?).

I am extremely pleased that this man of the far right has decided not to stand in the elections. If the expression "Yes man" hadn't been created already someone surely would have done it to describe him

Probably worried as one large advertising/media company gone T*Ts up in the islands so has to get back to his own business - see the credit crunch does have positive benefits!
